My two favorite books were a kitten book in which there were 4 kittens who try to find places to hide. Finally at the end the gray one hid in a stone wall.
The other was about a boy and girl who lived in a city in apartments across from each other. The boy's curtains were a sort of maroon color and the girl's were a wonderful fuchsia. They introduced me to the wonderful world of color at the age of 4 or 5 in about 1952, so I am pretty sure both books were published before that.
