I found a very cute and curious little Saggy Baggy Elephant hand puppet. Basically it is a plastic elephant head sewn on a canvas "mitten". Printed on the front of the mitten in red is Saggy Baggy Elephant, and then at the bottom it says Western Publishing Company, Inc. Made in Hong Kong. The back of the elephant's head has a Made in Hong Kong imprint. I'm thinking maybe a promotional item for the original book? I have some experience with vintage toys, and I'd definitely call it a mid century item from the late 40s to 60s I'm guessing. I can email pics.
I would just love some info on it as I haven't found anything online about it yet. I've only seen a vintage plush Saggy Baggy Elephant.
I also own this puppet. The ones with a plain hand mitt and the name on them were made in Hong Kong and noted Western Publishing. There are three in the series , I believe: Poky, Tawny and Saggy.
