I am looking for a Giant Golden Book anthology of fairy stories published sometime around 1960. It was probably a companion book to "The Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tale Book:A Giant Golden Book" which was published in 1959. As the illustrations were of similar style and quality I suspect it was also illustrated by Gianni Benvenuti. I don't recall the cover well, although it may have featured a princess with a powdered wig. One story I remember was about a contented old couple who were so poor that they lived in a barrel. A magic bird grants them a (series) of wishes which makes them increasingly dissatisfied with their lot in life until they demand to be made Emperor/Empress at which time the bird explodes with rage and they find themselves back in their barrel.
