I had a childhood book in the early to mid 70's that was about a bear and other animals that helped to build a house. It seems that the bear and a little boy were the main characters. It seems like the cover was white around the edges, I remember birds bringing straw for the roof of the house. The book was about the same size as "a little golden book", and it only contained the one story.
