I have two copies of a book, same edition, both have the same number printed on lower corner of back cover. But the spines are different. One is very gold with small pictures of flowers, birds and bumblebees, and the other is more silver with larger pictures of flowers and chickens and bears. Does this mean anything?

The smaller, shinier spine is on the newer books. Spines or back covers can change anytime the last lot is used up. OR someone might have replaced a spine without knowing that they changed for that book.
